History of our Organization

TJ Miracle International Foundation (“TJ Foundation”) is part of the outreach ministry started by Sister Josephine Turyatunga in 2000 throughout the African country of Uganda. TJ Foundation is operated under the guidance and direction of our dedicated staff and a cadre of volunteers.

Over the past four decades Uganda has been engulfed in one crisis after another, from living life under the reign of a powerful dictator, to years of civil war, followed by famine, drought and most recently the pandemic commonly known as HIV/AIDS. These crises have left thousands of Ugandan children without parents and/or family support, in other words, they are orphans. That is where the vision of Sister Josephine, through TJ Foundation, has literally changed the lives of hundreds of these children.

In 2004 Sister Josephine, founder of T.J. Miracle International Foundation, gave birth to her vision for T.J. Foundation. While living in Uganda, Sister Josephine noticed the large number of children living on the street and/or in poverty. She started asking questions and discovered that the HIV/AIDS pandemic, coupled with all of the civil disruption, left thousands of children without parents. The image of those children never left her mind and upon arriving in America she decided to create hope for future generations by working hard to support the orphans.

For almost three years, TJ Foundation has provided economic and spiritual support for over 200 children. TJ Foundation receives direct support from Sister Josephine and other contributors. TJ Foundation’s services include shelter, food, clothing, medical and educational assistance. The children living in TJ Foundation are between the ages of 3 and 15. Many of the children are siblings and/or related through blood or marriage. Many of the children suffer with medical, physical and psychological/emotional conditions that require treatment and evaluation. TJ Foundation’s facility sits on approximately two acres of land and has one building, Sister Josephine’s family home.

TJ Foundation is one of the few complexes of its kind operated in the Township/Province of Kyengera, Wakiso. TJ Foundation’s small, but, dedicated staff of three full-time, several part-time employees, a full compliment of volunteers and support staff, work hard to coordinate the wide-range of social, medical and educational services provided for our children, services aimed at ending generational cycles of poverty, illiteracy and dependence. TJ Foundation offers children activities and programs designed to increase/improve self-esteem, emotional well-being, physical/bodily functions, social interaction, spiritual and technological literacy and abilities. Our goal for and the children is and always will be total self-sufficiency
